Utricularia algae likes to grow near water. If it is not planted in a rainforest tank/aquatic tank, it needs to keep the planting medium moist.
Utricularia spp. is commonly found in swampy meadows and along streams in alpine habitats in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales .
