Sarcocheilichthys sinensis
The Huaji is a common fish found in rivers and lakes. It generally lives in the middle and lower water bodies with slow flow. It often inhabits flowing or still waters with clear water quality and a lot of sediment on the bottom. It has a mixed diet, using its mandibles to scrape benthic invertebrates, algae, plant debris and aquatic insects attached to the gravel. Young fish like to eat chironomid larvae. Distributed in China, South Korea, North Korea, and Russia.
