Rosemary is a perennial evergreen shrub belonging to the Lamiaceae family, known for its unique, cool fragrance with strong pine and camphor notes. This aroma primarily comes from essential oil components such as cineole, which are abundant in its leaves. When planted in gardens or on windowsills, rosemary acts as a natural insect repellent, effectively interfering with mosquitoes' olfactory systems and making it difficult for them to approach. Dried branches and leaves can also be made into sachets or aromatherapy products for indoor mosquito repellent. It grows vigorously, tolerates drought and heat, making it an excellent choice for a garden herb with mosquito repellent, culinary, and ornamental value.
Note: During hot summer weather, yellowing and drying of leaves are common. This is a natural metabolic process for the plant to cope with intense heat and is normal. Promptly remove yellow leaves, water precisely, avoid direct sun exposure, and ensure good ventilation, and new green leaves will grow!
