Masked Crab Spider (Thomisus labefactus)
The horned red crab spider can walk sideways, similar to a crab. The carapace of male spiders is usually reddish-brown, with many small knobs distributed on it. The female spider's carapace is beige. The eye area is reddish-brown, as if wearing a pair of eye patches. The abdomen is trapezoid-shaped, white or yellow, and blends with the color of the petals to provide a protective color, making it harder for predators to spot it. Although the red horned crab spiders are slow-moving, they have superb survival methods. They often hide on the petals of gray lilies or ghost needles and wait patiently for prey. Some enthusiasts have also observed that the horned red crab spider sometimes sneaks into the pitcher plant, hangs itself with a long spider silk, and enters the pitcher plant's insect cyst from the outside to eat the drowned insects. What a group. Clever Spider.
