The bumblebee jumping spider is a large P-genus jumping spider, and a must-have for enthusiasts seeking large jumping spiders. This classic species, absent from the market for many years, has reappeared. Even 3rd instar juveniles show a clear distinction from Phidippus regius. Adult females have green and purplish-red chelicerae, and body colors can range from pale yellow to deep yellow, which can be influenced by diet during growth, the rearing environment, and the spider itself. All these variations are normal.
Care Guide:
  • Enclosure: For arboreal species, choose an enclosure where the height is greater than the width, such as a dedicated acrylic jumping spider box, tall glass terrarium, or modified clear plastic box. The enclosure must be secure, well-ventilated, and escape-proof.
  • Decor: Place items such as branches, bark, vines, and artificial plants inside the enclosure. Substrate can be coco fiber, sphagnum moss, or non-woven fabric, primarily for humidity retention, laid in a thin layer.
  • Temperature and Humidity: Room temperature of 20-28°C is generally sufficient. Maintain humidity at 60-70%.
  • Food and Water: Small and large fruit flies, pinhead crickets, small mealworms, or cherry roach nymphs. Food items should not exceed the spider's body length. Provide a small water dish (to prevent drowning) or regularly offer water via a moist cotton ball.
