Hoya gadingensis was discovered in Gunung Gading National Park in Sarawak on the island of Borneo, Malaysia. Hoya gadingensis has more prominent veins on its leaves, which do not seem to fade as the leaves age. The secret to growing this plant is not to overwater, keep it warm and consistently moist, and provide very little direct sunlight.

Care Instructions:

  1. Light and Temperature: Prefers semi-shade with diffused light, avoid direct strong sunlight, suitable for hanging on north-facing windowsills, inside balconies, or in bright indoor areas.
  2. Watering and Humidity: "Dry-wet" principle – water thoroughly when the potting mix is dry, avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
  3. Fertilization and Pruning: During the growing season, apply a diluted nitrogen-phosphorus compound liquid fertilizer once a month. Do not remove residual flower stalks after flowering. New flower buds will sprout from the same location next year.

Flowering Period: Hoya typically flowers from April to June, and with proper care, it can continue to bloom until September. Therefore, starting in March, you can restrict watering and increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flowering.

Note: Mature plants require more than 2 years to flower (e.g., first year for root development, second year for promoting branching, third year for flowering)
