The flying fish is a large ornamental fish belonging to the suborder Cyprinidae, the family Cyprinidae, and the genus Cyprinidae. The phoenix has a side-flattened body, each fin is red, the anal fin and tail fin have horizontal stripes, and there is an adipose fin at the base of the tail. It is native to the central and western tributaries of the Amazon River.
