Japanese Tree Frog - Terrarium Aquascape Micro-Landscape
Tree frogs are also called tree toads. Although they have "toad" in their name, they do not have parotid glands (poison glands behind the ears). They are named for their bone structure, which is similar to that of toads. Chinese tree frogs are 2-3cm long, with very little difference in size between males and females. They have a blackish-brown longitudinal stripe from the snout, through the eyes, to the eardrum. Their backs are smooth and green or grass-green, while their sides and bellies are white or light yellow. Their sides and thighs are covered with black spots of various sizes.
Care recommendations:
- Choose a tall enclosure and decorate it with branches, leaves, and driftwood for them to inhabit.
- Maintain the humidity of the living environment at over 70%.
- Provide clean water. A shallow water dish must be placed to provide fresh drinking water.
- Tree frogs only eat live prey. Suitable staple foods include appropriately sized crickets, fruit flies, or mealworms.
- Most tree frogs are suitable for living in environments between 20-30°C.
- Provide ample hiding places in the enclosure, such as under plant leaves or artificial hides, to make them feel secure.
