Drosera sp.
Drumose species are commonly found in temperate swamps in the eastern United States and Canada, but can still be found in other areas of the continent. One commonality between all furry species in North America is that they are all wetland plants and rarely grow outside of wetland ecosystems. They require constant moisture and can survive in soil with very low nutrient content.
Carnivorous plants use insects as a supplementary source of nitrogen. This allows these plants to survive on nutrient-poor soil. Increased nitrogen consumption by insect prey favors plant growth, flowering, and seed production.
