Central Asian carpenter ants prefer to nest in damp places, especially in water-damaged trees. They also build nests in beams, floors, or walls, and forage for food scraps and insects throughout the house. Their diet mainly includes small insects, honeydew, and plant secretions. Central Asian carpenter ants mostly forage for food and water at night, and chew tunnels in wood to serve as corridors for habitation and travel.
