Cherish Capsicum fig is produced in Central Kalimantan, and the more detailed place of origin has not been announced. It was named Cherish (Chinese translated as "cherry") Capsicum fig by Japanese collector Nakamoto Katuya.
Because it is the third species discovered, it is called the precious Ficus capsicum type-3. It mainly grows on rocks near water sources in its production area, and a small amount of it grows underwater on sandy bottoms. It may have three types of ecology: terrestrial, aquatic or semi-aquatic.
