藍彩鱂 Blue lyretail (Fundulopanchax gardneri)
The Bluefin Nothobranch (Nothobranchius rachovii) is a freshwater fish species belonging to the family Nothobranchiidae and genus Nothobranchius. It is native to streams, ponds, and other waters in Nigeria and Cameroon, Africa. Adult fish typically measure 6.5-7.5 cm in length, with a predominantly blue body color. Some strains, such as the "p82" type, feature striking red markings that create a strong contrast. Patterns vary among populations from different regions; for instance, the edges of the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins are often adorned with yellow or red stripes, contributing to their overall striking appearance.
Care recommendations:
- Maintain water temperature at 22-25°C and pH between 6.0-7.0. Weakly acidic soft water is recommended to simulate their natural habitat.
- Provide aquatic plants, driftwood, and other shelters to mimic stream and pond environments, offering them a sense of security.
- Feed with dried pellets or artificial food, occasionally supplementing with live foods like bloodworms for added nutrition.
- Can be kept in a community tank, but avoid housing with overly small fish, as they may chase weaker tank mates.
- Bluefin Nothobranch are strong jumpers, so the water level in the tank should be lowered or a lid should be used to prevent them from jumping out.
