Black Mary is one of the more difficult species of ovoviviparous fish to raise, and it is difficult to raise it in an aquarium without sunlight. It has a gentle temperament and can be mixed with other fish species with a gentle temperament. It likes weakly alkaline (pH 7.4) hard water, lives well in water with a water temperature of 22 to 28°C, is widely salty, and has certain adaptability to salt water. It is also very sensitive to changes in water temperature and does not like to change the water all at once. Partial water changes should be done frequently.
