His father, Yozan, was a bonsai pot craftsman and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50 cm. Round pots are basically made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai pots are made with molds. The molds are made thick and then hand-carved by Hideaki himself. He produces a wide variety of items, including pots with cat feet, painted designs, and mud-colored glazes, ranging from unique, one-off pieces to mass-produced items.
