Studied glazes while training under his father, Masayama Watanabe, and began firing small bonsai pots around 1978. He mainly creates glazed bonsai pots and glazed suiban using the tatara technique. His glazes are primarily Oribe, Jun glaze, white Kochi, yellow Kochi, and Ruri glaze, with a diverse range of intermediate colors as well. He is a Tokoname bonsai container artist who creates both pots and suiban in various sizes, from small to large, in various clay colors.
