Tetraponera rufonigra - Medium-sized Ant
Mainly found in tropical areas, they like to nest in trees or rock crevices. They are highly aggressive and good at united fighting. When they find prey, they will attack several or more together. They kill fiercely and quickly, and have relatively powerful stingers. If a person is stabbed, it will cause severe pain and the wound will be red and swollen. This ant nests in dead wood, and often at least in cracks in the stumps or tree trunks of old houses throughout Myanmar. The nest is in a hole in a Xylia dolabrifomis tree, which often has one or more entrances under the tree and close to the ground. After launching several attacks on the yellow ants, their battle formation was obviously a triangular wedge formation, with the sharp corners facing the enemy and advancing forward.
