His father, Yozan, was a bonsai potter and one of Tokoname's foremost glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm. Round pots are typically made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai pots are made using molds. The molded items are cast thickly and then re-carved by Hideaki himself. He creates a wide variety of pieces, including cat-leg pots, painted pots, and mud-colored pots, ranging from unique, one-off creations to mass-produced items.
