Silkworm breeding set, live silkworms + basic tool kit

Silkworm egg hatching: Hatching time is around 7-15 days at a temperature of approximately 20°C (don't be impatient!). The silkworm eggs will gradually turn from gray to grayish-white, indicating they are close to hatching. (Note: the temperature should not exceed 32°C, as the eggs may die from the heat.)

After hatching, the silkworm eggs will enter a dormant period. During this period, they need to stop eating and moving for 2-3 days, with their heads slightly tilted back, looking as if they are asleep. (Note: Try not to move them during this time, as it will interrupt their molting process.)

Silkworms molt four times in their lifetime. Newly hatched silkworms are called ant silkworms or first-instar silkworms. Each molt takes about 2-3 days. After one molt, they are called second-instar silkworms. The silkworm's instar is calculated based on the number of molts. They grow much larger after each molt. They molt approximately every 7 days, and after four molts, the silkworms will spin their cocoons in about 7-8 days!

A healthy silkworm is 7-8 cm long. It takes about 32-42 days for it to grow from egg to adult and then to cocoon. Be patient and careful in your care! Silkworms are afraid of sunlight, so they should not be exposed to direct sunlight. They are also sensitive to water; excessive moisture can easily cause them to get sick.

How to prevent silkworms from dying: Generally, death is caused by problems with the rearing environment and feeding them leaves of unknown origin.
The ambient temperature should not be too low or too high, normally between 18-30°C. Pay attention to ventilation, and the environment should not have any irritating odors. Silkworms are afraid of sunlight and water, and excessive humidity is also not good. Maintain hygiene and clean up any dead leaves in a timely manner.
