刀背蛋龜（剃刀蛋龜／屋頂龜）隸屬動胸龜科麝香龜屬，為北美原生之水棲龜類。其背甲中央具高聳銳利之縱向脊棱，側觀如屋頂陡坡，因而得名。體色呈淺棕至橄欖黃，甲面常帶深色斑點或放射紋，腹甲黃色且具韌帶關節。性格溫順害羞，水性佳，喜攀爬沉木與岩石探索環境。作為蛋龜家族中最具辨識度的入門品種，刀背蛋龜能為水族缸增添獨特景緻，兼具觀賞與底層清潔功能，適合以沉木、石塊造景之緩流水域飼養。
