His father, Yozan, was a potter of bonsai containers and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm. Round pots are generally made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai containers are made using molds. The molded items are cast thickly and then re-carved by hand. He produces a wide variety of items, including cat-leg feet, painted designs, and mud-colored pots, ranging from unique, one-off creations to mass-produced items.
