His father, Yo-zan, was a potter of bonsai containers and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50 cm. Round pots are basically made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai containers are made using molds. Molds are thickly cast and then re-carved by Hideaki himself.
