Milk tree frogs are large tree frogs inhabiting the rainforests of South America, possessing a unique brown and white camouflage rarely seen among tree frogs. Being nocturnal, they prefer to dwell on tree trunks or in tree hollows rather than on leaves. When threatened, they secrete a milky white, mildly toxic liquid for defense, hence their name. They have a broad diet, consuming live prey such as crickets and mealworms. They are lively, adaptable, and can live for 10-15 years, making them one of the top choices for long-term companion pets.
(Note: The black stripes on milk tree frogs gradually fade with age.)
