The Western Painted Turtle is the largest of the four subspecies, with adults reaching a maximum length of 25 centimeters. The carapace also has a slender central axis. Most of their plastrons are orange-red, and some individuals' plastrons are as red as flames. Their carapace is red and green with lightning stripes. The stunning color combination is eye-catching.
