The Aru Pearl Rainbowfish is a remarkably slender and diminutive blue-eyed species, named "Pearl" Rainbowfish for the black dots scattered like pearls on its fins. In terms of appearance, the male's anterior dorsal fin is rather narrow with pointed fin rays at the ends; the posterior dorsal fin, however, is broad and rounded like a sail. The anal fin also shares a similar shape to the posterior dorsal fin, and the vibrant yellow at the tip of the pectoral fins adds a touch of ethereal beauty! In contrast, females completely lack the broad, flowing fins of the males, making gender identification very easy.
