Prunus subhirtella var.autumnails Makino

The October cherry blossom variety is a triploid hybrid of Kohigan (a hybrid between Mazakura and Edo Higan) and other cherry blossoms. This variety is a double-petaled variety that blooms continuously from autumn to spring, which is one of the smaller types of cherry blossoms. It blooms twice a year, in late March and early April (spring flowers are larger) and from October to December (autumn flowers are smaller), which is very precious. It is a cultivated variety of the Higanzakura series and has been widely cultivated since the late Edo period (1800s).
