The plant is shorter than the yellow hair palm, the thorn base is sparse, the hook hairs are white, the flower buds are red, and they are yellow-white after opening. Plant height is 0.5~2 meters. The stem is upright, the base is slightly lignified, cylindrical, the rest is palmate, flat, each internode is obovate to oval, green. The flowers are solitary on thorn nests and are bright yellow. The berries are pear-shaped, thornless, and purple-red.
