貢氏圓尾鳉魚，是一種觀賞性極高的非洲小型鳉魚。其雄魚體長約6-7厘米，身體以黃色或橙紅色為基底，鱗片上遍布絢麗的紅色斑紋，火紅色的尾鰭是其最鮮明的標誌。作為典型的「一年生鳉魚」，它們演化出獨特的生存策略：成魚在原產地旱季死亡，而魚卵則在幹燥的泥層中休眠，待雨季來臨時才孵化新生。
飼養建議：
- 水温在 22-25°C；pH值保持在6.0-7.0，建議使用弱酸性軟水以其模擬自然栖息環境
- 可以鋪設水草、沉木等遮蔽物模拟溪流和池沼的环境，為其提供安全感
- 可以投喂干燥颗粒或人工饲料，偶尔可喂红虫等活饵增加营养
- 可混养，但避免与过小的鱼同缸，它們对弱势同类有追赶行为
- 跳躍能力較强，魚缸需降低水位或者加蓋防止跳缸
