Hawaiian Schefflera (Heptapleurum heptaphyllum (L.) YF Deng)
Schefflera is a common plant in evergreen broad-leaved forests in tropical and subtropical areas. It is native to the subtropical rainforests in Oceania, Guangdong, Fujian, China, and South America. It is also distributed in Japan, Vietnam, and India, and is now widely planted around the world.
Schefflera likes moisture and fears dryness. When the air humidity is high and the soil moisture is sufficient, the stems and leaves grow luxuriantly. But too much water can cause waterlogging and root rot. If the pot soil lacks water or is wet and dry for a long time, defoliation will occur. Schefflera has certain adaptability to temporary drought and dry air. It likes semi-shady environmental conditions, is not very cold-tolerant, and prefers moist, slightly acidic soil rich in humus.
