Dwarf Pearl (Scrophularia lingulata) is a dicotyledonous, emergent aquatic plant. Classified by morphology, it belongs to the stemmed aquatic plant family. Formerly a member of the Scrophulariaceae family, it has now been reclassified into the Scrophulariaceae family. Its emersed and submerged forms are similar, with opposite, ovate or spoon-shaped leaves. Short-stalked, solitary flowers with five white petals grow from the leaf axils of the emersed form; the flowers are small and uncommon. Under suitable conditions, the emersed form can directly transform into a submerged form.

Dwarf hairgrass originates from Australia, New Zealand, and other regions, and is usually classified as a foreground plant in aquascaping. Compared to miniature dwarf hairgrass, it is easier to cultivate and grows faster. As long as sufficient light and carbon dioxide are provided, it will quickly cover the substrate of the planted aquarium.
