Empire Gudgeon (Hypseleotris compressa)

The Queen's Snakehead, which also belongs to the genus Snakehead, is native to Australia and New Guinea. The body color of this species is light yellowish brown with some blue sheen. There are some dark black or blue-green small stripes on the side of the body. Each fin is light yellow or light orange with black and white patterns. The outer edges of the dorsal fin, pelvic fin and anal fin are also edged with light blue, and the head is orange-red. The body color of the female fish is golden brown, with a dark longitudinal band on the side of the body. Like the short pond snakehead, the body color is changeable. When the mature male fish enters the estrus period, the body color will become extremely fiery red, gorgeous and indescribably beautiful.
