杜比亞的蛋白质含量高于蟋蟀。
杜比亞蟑螂飼養方法和飼養蟋蟀差不多，須要一定的飼養空間，可使用包裝雞蛋的紙皮。它們平常不愛活動，跑得不快。雄性有翅膀，有小部分能小距離飛行，特別是晚上很活躍，飼養箱內有成年雄性要注意防逃。最大優點是它們不像一般蟑螂能爬任何平滑表面的物質，所以並不怕它們逃跑。雄性成體有完整翅膀，雌性則只有退化了的翅膀，所以分辨公母非常容易。
可直接作為飼養蜥蜴、守宮、螃蟹、蛙、蜘蛛、蠍子、蜈蚣、螞蟻、觀賞魚、觀賞鳥等寵物的活體動物蛋白飼料。
飼養方法：放置在陰涼通風的位置。平常餵食蔬菜或水果。（飼養時使用高，避免逃跑）
