乳白蟻,是等翅目鼻白蟻科的一種社會性昆蟲，也是全球範圍內分部最廣的土木兩棲性白蟻之一。乳白蟻過著高度社會化的群體生活，一個成熟的巢穴內個體數量可達數百萬，其群體內有明確的品級分化，分別為繁殖蟻、兵蟻、工蟻。它們是典型的「土木兩棲」白蟻，既能在地下築巢，也能在建築物內部（如天花板、墻體空腔）建立大型主巢，有著及其強大的繁殖能力，以木材、木製品、枯枝落葉、紙張等富含纖維素的東西爲食。
飼養須知：
- 乳白蟻畏光，飼養環境需要陰暗，可以使用不透明容器或遮光處理
- 適宜溫度在25-30℃之間，濕度保持80%以上
- 可選用濾紙、未處理的木材，不要投喂帶油墨的紙張或加工過的木材
- 乳白蟻具有極大的破壞性，飼養時一定要絕對做好安全隔離，防止逃逸
- 蟻后體長約0.8cm，工蟻體長約0.3-0.6cm
