Butterflies are insects that undergo complete metamorphosis. From larvae to gracefully dancing adults, they experience magical life stages, which can be clearly observed throughout with the tools in this set:

1. Larval Growth Stage (Caterpillar Stage, 7-14 days)

After hatching, the healthy larvae in the set will feed on host plant leaves, eating ravenously and growing rapidly. During this period, they will undergo 4-5 molts. Each molt increases their instar, and their body size can increase dozens of times. This is the most active stage of a butterfly's life.

2. Pre-pupal - Pupal Stage (7-10 days)

After the last instar larva stops feeding, it will seek a safe place to spin silk and secure its body, entering the pre-pupal stage, and then molt to form a hard pupal case. This stage appears static, but a remarkable biological reorganization is occurring within the pupal case – all of the larval tissues and organs break down and differentiate anew into adult structures such as the butterfly's wings, antennae, and legs.

3. Eclosion and Emergence Stage (Several hours)

Once the pupa matures, the adult will break out of the pupal case. At this time, its wings are soft and crumpled. The butterfly will use abdominal pressure to inject fluid into its wing veins, allowing the wings to fully expand, while also expelling metabolic waste, the "pupal meconium." Within just a few hours, the wings will harden completely, and the butterfly will be able to fly.
