Jatropha podagrica, also known as the Buddha Belly Plant, is a unique succulent native to Central America. Its most striking feature is its swollen caudex (base), which resembles a Buddha's belly, hence its name. This plant exhibits distinct tropical characteristics: it enters its main growing season in summer, producing large palmate leaves and vibrant red flowers; during winter, it sheds its leaves and goes dormant when temperatures are low. Special care is required during cultivation: sufficient sunlight and moderate watering are needed during the growing season, while watering should be reduced during dormancy. Its unique caudex shape and colorful flowers make it a prized collectible for succulent enthusiasts.
