Japanese algae cannot grow normally in water that is too hard and alkaline, and may even die. When there is insufficient light, defoliation will also occur. When blooming, the short pedicels will stick out of the water to bloom, but when the water is deep, the pedicels cannot stick out of the water and they will not bloom.
