Black skirt fish belongs to the family Cyprinidae and is native to the Amazon River Basin of South America, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Argentina. The black skirt fish is about 6-8 cm long in nature, and the fish cultured in aquariums are generally about 3-6 cm long, with a tall body, flat sides, and an approximate rhombus shape. The anal fin is wide, the adipose fin is small, and the pectoral fin, pelvic fin, and caudal fin are all white.
