Astrophytum asterias

It is native to the southern United States, northern Mexico, northeastern and central regions. The plant is oblate spherical, with a diameter of 5-8cm. The sphere is divided into 6-10 oblate edges by 6-10 shallow grooves. No spines, with white star-shaped wool on the spines. The flowers are born on the top of the ball, funnel-shaped, yellow or red, with a red center.

Xingdou likes a dry environment, is drought-tolerant, likes sandy soil rich in calcareous and well-drained, with plenty of sunshine and large temperature differences. Water frequently during the growing season. Adult plants can be repotted every 5 to 6 years. When the temperature is lower than 7℃ in winter, it can be placed indoors to keep warm at night.
