水草種子直接播撒到水缸底部的沙土之上，保證底沙的厚度在2釐米左右。在完成播撒工作後，沒有必要在上面覆蓋其他的水草泥，保證水草種子能有良好的呼吸環境，往上面噴灑一點水霧，確保底沙有微濕的感覺就可以。
除了澆水微濕外，還應該用塑膠薄膜覆蓋來保溫保濕，並在上面戳小孔透氣通風。水草的生長溫度範圍控制在25~30℃即可，並確保澆水和水質健康，光照溫暖充足，不到一周就能發芽。
