It is native to the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Pearl River basins of China. It is distributed in various provinces and regions from Northeast China to South China and Southwest China. It is distributed in Africa, Central Asia, and East Asia. It also has a long history of introduction and cultivation in North America. It likes to grow on hillsides, and its vertical distribution is mainly at an altitude of 400-700 meters. Mainly grown in temperate, subtropical and tropical areas, it likes light, has strong ecological adaptability, is resistant to barrenness, has strong stress resistance, has strong drought resistance, and can adapt to a variety of climate conditions.
