[Ilex serrata Bonsai] The Japanese name "Umemodoki" (梅擬) is said to have come from the fact that its leaves, branching, and fruit resemble those of a plum (ume, 梅). It blooms in early summer, around May to June, with flower buds appearing at the base of the leaves on branches that grew in spring.
