His father, Yozan, was a bonsai pot craftsman and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products mainly consist of small and medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm. Generally, round pots are made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai pots are made using molds. The molds are thickly cast and then re-carved by Hideaki himself. He creates a wide variety of pieces, including those with cat-foot designs, painted designs, and earthy-toned pots, ranging from unique, nearly one-off creations to mass-produced items.
