His father, Yozan, was a potter who specialized in bonsai containers and was one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50 cm. Basically, round pots are made on a potter's wheel, and other bonsai containers are made with molds. The molds are cast thick and then re-carved by hand. He creates a wide variety of items, including pots with paw feet, painted designs, and earthy colors, with some being close to one-of-a-kind creations and others being mass-produced.
