His father, Yozan, was a potter of bonsai containers and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products mainly consist of small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50 cm. Round pots are generally made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai containers are made using molds. Molded items are thicker when cast and then re-carved by Hideaki himself. He produces a diverse range of items, including cat's paw feet, painted pots, and clay-colored pots, with some pieces being closer to one-off creations and others being mass-produced.
