[Himeshara Bonsai] This tree species is renowned for its beautiful trunk, so much so that it is counted among the "Three Great Beautiful Trunks of Japan." Its bark is thin, smooth, and reddish-brown, and more vibrant than that of the Japanese Stewartia (Natsutsubaki). Its leaves and branches have silky white hairs, and similar hairs on the outer surface of its flowers are a distinguishing feature from the Japanese Stewartia.
