Bonsai Pot, Heian Kosen, Small, approx. 10cm long, round pot, cut feet, white glaze, used pot. Heian Kosen was born on February 28, 1933. He started bonsai around 1955. Fascinated by Tofukuji pots, he began making pots entirely self-taught around 1965. He insisted on firing in a climbing kiln, and as kilns were successively abandoned, he eventually had his work fired in Kawai Kanjiro's climbing kiln. He spent two years working on reproducing Tofukuji's nashiji clay, and for glazes such as Jun glaze, Oribe, Cinnabar, and Soba, he was not satisfied with commercial glazes and experimented with his own unique methods.
