His father, Yozan, was a potter of bonsai pots and one of Tokoname's leading glaze masters. His products are mainly small to medium-sized glazed items up to about 50cm. Round pots are generally made on a potter's wheel, while other bonsai pots are made using molds. The molded pots are initially made thick and then hand-carved.
