He began his career under his father, Shōzan Watanabe, where he researched glazes, and started firing small bonsai pots around 1978. He mainly produces glazed bonsai pots and glazed suiban (water basins) using a slab-building technique. His glazes are primarily Oribe, Jun glaze, white Kōchi, yellow Kōchi, and lapis lazuli glaze, with a wide range of intermediate colors. He is a Tokoname bonsai artist who creates both pots and suiban in mud colors, small sizes, and large sizes. The artist's name is read as "Kazuhiro," but is commonly read as "Ikko" (kun-yomi)...
