Hainan giant black-footed centipede (Scolopendra hainanum)
The Hainan banded-leg centipede, also known as the "zebra-legged centipede," is one of the most beautiful native centipedes. It has average speed, but a bad temper and is fierce. Its body is brownish-black, and the zebra-like pattern on its legs is a distinctive feature of the banded-leg centipede. Banded-leg centipedes are not expensive, are relatively easy to keep, and are active predators with strong ornamental value. They are easy for beginners to keep.
Choose a enclosure that is at least 1.2 times the centipede's body length based on its size. You can use 2-3cm of coco fiber as substrate, along with a water dish and a hide. You can feed it crickets, locusts, cherry roaches, Dubia roaches, etc., and occasionally supplement its nutrition with small frogs or pinky mice. Food remnants should be cleaned up promptly to prevent the growth of garbage mites and springtails.
Adult size: 18-22cm
Suitable keeping temperature: 20-28°C
Humidity: Around 60%-70%
Food: Crickets, Dubia roaches, cherry roaches, and other live feeders
