Tani Arashiyama (real name: Tani Hiroyuki) started making small pots due to his hobby of bonsai. In 1979, he and six friends built a communal kiln and named it Rokuraku-gama. His pottery name might be more commonly known as Rokuraku-gama. In 1985, he received the Chairman's Award at the National Amateur Small Pot Artists Exhibition, the Special Encouragement Award at the 2nd BONSAI Container Exhibition, and the Encouragement Award at the 1st Contemporary Small Pot Artists Exhibition. Although he produced few works due to being busy, he has been actively engaged in pottery production since returning to his hometown.
