Nicobar Giant Ant (Camponotus nicobarensis) - Medium-sized ant

This species is distributed in Gaoligong Mountain in Yunnan: Baihualing 1530-1630 meters, in addition to Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan; India, Myanmar, Vietnam and other places.

Nicobar ants are semi-nocturnal ants that usually leave their nests at night. This species is smaller than other ant species, so its combat effectiveness is lower. But they are very territorial. Large worker ants will patrol within a specific range and are highly aggressive towards outsiders. Large colonies will begin to station several branch nests near the mother nest. Branch nests are usually built next to food to feed.

Nicobar ants are polyqueenous, and a colony can accommodate multiple queens. Compared with most ant species, this species has larger colonies, which can even reach tens of thousands of workers.

Nicobar ants are divided into three types of worker ants: large, medium and small. Their bodies are reddish brown and they move quickly. They like all kinds of sweet fruits. The reproduction speed is relatively fast, and a community of several hundred workers can be developed from scratch within a year. Colonies in the wild can generally reach tens of thousands of worker ants. It likes low humidity and is more adaptable in 30%-60% humidity. The body length of large worker ants is about 7-9mm, the body length of small and medium-sized worker ants is 5.2~6mm, and the queen ant can reach about 12mm.

Feeding: You can feed sugar water during the new period, and the leftover food needs to be cleaned up in time, otherwise it will become moldy; in the later period, you can feed some arthropods such as insects.
